Ousmane Dembele deserves his Ballon d’Or award – Barcelona manager Hansi Flick

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has congratulated PSG star Ousmane Dembele for winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.

He believes that the French forward of Malian descent did outstandingly well in the 2024/25 football season and deserves the award.

“Ousmane deserves it too. Not only Lamine was nominated, but other players as well, which shows that we are doing everything right,” Flick said.

The Barça boss also addressed teenager Lamine Yamal, who missed out on the prestigious award to Dembélé but was among the nominees. Flick revealed that the youngster has taken the setback positively and is more determined than ever.

“I’ve spoken with him, and he’s motivated to show his full potential. He’ll certainly have another chance to win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years,” Flick noted.

On Yamal’s fitness, Flick confirmed the winger is nearing a return from a groin injury that has sidelined him in recent weeks.

While he is unlikely to feature in Thursday’s La Liga clash against Oviedo, he could be back in action this weekend against Real Sociedad.

Barcelona remain hopeful that the teenager will be fully fit for next week’s Champions League showdown with PSG.
