France forward of Mauritanian descent, Ousmane Dembele has opened up about his impressive goalscoring in the ongoing 2024/25 football season.
This season, the highly-rated forward has scored 32 goals and provided eight assists after making 42 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain in all competitions.
According to the attacker, this has been possible because of the position his manager plays him and the service he receives from his teammates.
“I’ve been asked about it a lot. I think it’s my position on the pitch – I’m closer to goal. My teammates are also serving me well, and then it’s just about finishing,” Dembele said during a press conference ahead of PSG’s second leg meeting against Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
At the press conference, Dembele also spoke about being a leader in the PSG dressing room.
While he refused to admit to being the overall leader of the team, he acknowledged that he is one of the leading figures in the team and tries to help his teammates as much as he can.
“Leader? I’m not sure, but one of the key figures. I’m comfortable with it and stay true to myself. I try to encourage others and set an example, as the coach asks. That’s what I aim to do,” Ousmane Dembele added.
The UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg meeting between PSG and Aston Villa will be played on Tuesday, April 15.
