France forward of Malian descent, Ousmane Dembele is now favourite ahead of Spanish-Moroccan attacker Lamine Yamal to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
This follows his exploits in the UEFA Champions League semi-final that saw him helping PSG to overcome Arsenal with a 3-1 aggregate win to make it to the final.
Several bookmakers believed the 27-year-old Dembele has a better chance of winning the award based on his strong performances in the French Ligue 1 as well.
In the 2024/25 football season, the former Barcelona and Dortmund winger has scored 33 goals, providing 13 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.
He has already clinched the French Ligue 1 title with PSG and is on course to win the top goal scorer award.
In addition, he is a candidate for the French Ligue 1 Player of the Season as well.
Now that Lamine Yamal is out of the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona, his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or award ahead of Ousmane Dembele look almost impossible.
However, Brazilian attacker Raphina could give Dembele a good run for his money.
