Otto Addo: Black Stars taking Comoros clash very seriously

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has emphasised that the Black Stars are approaching their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros with utmost seriousness.

Although Ghana’s qualification is all but sealed, Otto Addo insists his side is determined to end the campaign on a high note by claiming victory in front of home fans.

“I don’t know how the approach was when I was not there, so it’s difficult for me to talk about it. But I can say from our point of view, we take them very, very seriously,” Addo told reporters at a pre-match press conference on Saturday.

The coach further praised Comoros for their remarkable progress in recent years, warning that the Islanders are not to be underestimated.

“Like I said, Comoros — some people don’t even know where it is. But I know where it is. It’s a small country, but we have to show them big respect for what they have done in recent years — building a team, naturalising a lot of players from France, and developing a really competitive side with a very good coach who understands the game and uses different systems. They are difficult to beat. It’s going to be a tough match, but we want to win,” he added.

The Black Stars will face Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium in their final Group I encounter. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
