Otavio has left the Roshn Saudi League after three seasons in the competition, with Al Qadsiah agreeing to send the Portuguese midfielder to Qatari club Al Rayyan on a season-long loan.
The deal includes an obligation for Al Rayyan to make the transfer permanent, according to Al Qadsiah, who announced the agreement on Friday.
The move brings Otavio’s time in Saudi Arabia to an end after three seasons without winning a trophy. He spent the first two campaigns with Al Nassr before joining Al Qadsiah during last summer’s transfer window.
Otavio played for Al Qadsiah for one season, but his involvement this campaign was limited to 21 appearances. He did not score in those matches and provided three assists.
Al Qadsiah confirmed the transfer with a message thanking the player and wishing him well for the future: “Thank you, Otavio .. we wish you success in the future ❤️”
The 31-year-old initially arrived in Saudi Arabia from Porto in 2023, joining Al Nassr. During his two years with the club, he made 84 appearances, scoring 12 goals and supplying 16 assists.
Despite his time at Al Nassr, Otavio did not lift a trophy during his spell in the Roshn Saudi League. Al Nassr only won the league title after his departure, according to the figures and timeline surrounding his Saudi Arabian career.
His single campaign with Al Qadsiah produced no silverware either, and the move to Al Rayyan now gives him the opportunity to continue his career in Qatar.
Otavio’s longest spell at one club came with Porto, where he played from 2014 until 2023. He appeared 283 times for the Portuguese side, scoring 31 goals and recording 74 assists.
The midfielder’s departure means his three-season spell in the Roshn Saudi League has ended with 84 appearances for Al Nassr and 21 for Al Qadsiah. Across those two clubs, he scored 12 goals and created 19 more, while remaining without a trophy in the competition.
Al Rayyan will take Otavio on loan for one season, with the agreement containing a mandatory purchase clause that could make his move to Qatar permanent.
