Osman Bukari: Ghana-Serbia winger returns to Red Star Belgrade on loan from Widzew Łodz

Ghana-Serbia winger Osman Bukari has rejoined Red Star Belgrade on loan from Polish side Widzew Łodz for the 2026-27 season. The 27-year-old right-sided attacker returns to the Serbian champions after an 18-month spell away, during which he moved to Major League Soccer and then to the Ekstraklasa.

Bukari, who was born in Accra and is right-footed, leaves Widzew on a loan transfer after arriving there in January 2026 for €5.5 million from Austin FC. His new deal with Red Star runs until 30 June 2027, restoring a familiar partnership between player and club following his successful first stint in Belgrade.

During his earlier spell with Red Star, Bukari won back-to-back Serbian league and cup doubles in 2022-23 and 2023-24, establishing himself as a key attacking option from the right wing. He also featured in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League for the club, adding continental experience to his domestic honours.

Bukari’s career has taken him across several European leagues since leaving Ghanaian side Accra Lions, with spells at AS Trencin in Slovakia, KAA Gent in Belgium and a loan at French club Nantes, where he lifted the French Cup in 2021-22. He later moved to Austin in MLS in July 2024 before switching to Widzew six months later.

Across his club career he has played regularly in top-flight competitions in Serbia, France, Belgium, Slovakia, Poland and the United States, contributing goals and assists from wide areas. Bukari now links up again with Red Star for the duration of the 2026-27 campaign on a season-long loan agreement from Widzew Łodz.
