Osama Nabih has turned Egypt’s U-20 team into a World Cup squad in just eight weeks, and now he’s pushing for a winning finish.
As they prepare to face Nigeria at the Air Defense Stadium on Sunday, the young Pharaohs’ coach sees the match as a key milestone in a short but intense journey.
“We achieved the main goal of the tournament, which was to qualify for the World Cup in Chile. Now we aspire to a happy ending by competing for third place, after missing out on the chance to reach the continental final.”
Nabih stepped into the role with only 27 days of real training and quickly molded a squad that outperformed nations with years of preparation.
“We dreamed of dedicating the title to the Egyptian fans, but luck was not on our side in the semi-final match. We say: God has decreed and whatever He wills shall happen.”
He now looks ahead to the World Cup, urging fans to believe in a team still battling fatigue and injuries but filled with heart.
