Orlando Pirates turns down three bumper offers for youngster Relebohile Mofokeng
South African giants Orlando Pirates are keen on keeping enterprising attacker Relebohile Mofokeng, turning down three major offers for the forward.
The 20-year-old has been at the center of intense transfer speculation following an impressive campaign for Orlando Pirates during the 2024/25 football campaign.
Mofokeng performed admirably for Orlando Pirates last term, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in 26 appearances in the South African top-flight.
The fast-rising star remains with the Orlando Pirates squad despite massive global interest, with South African powerhouse turning down three major bid totaling $5,047.
Mofokeng has been a transfer target for Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, MLS outfit Minnesota United and Russian club Akron from Tolyatti, with Pirates rejecting bids from these clubs.
Al-Ettifaq tabled an offer in the region of $1,546,305, with Minnesota United proposing $2,006,173 for the forward, while Tolyatti put forward $1,494,570.
But the Soweto giants has swiftly turned down all offers for the talented attacker, prioritizing his career over money.
Orlando Pirates’ decision is driven by footballing ambitions rather than financial incentives. Mofokeng himself is in no rush to leave Orlando, aiming instead for a move to one of Europe’s elite leagues—La Liga, the Eredivisie, Ligue 1, or the Belgian Jupiler Pro League—which could serve as a springboard to the English Premier League.
Additionally, the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup could further boost Mofokeng’s profile, potentially increasing his transfer value ahead of an overseas move.
