Orlando Pirates set to sign Stellenbosch star Andre de Jong on transfer deadline day
Orlando Pirates are pushing to secure the signature of Stellenbosch star Andre de Jong before the closure of the South African transfer window.
The Soweto giants could capture the New Zealander in the coming hours before the transfer window is shut on Monday night.
In an interview, Stellenbosch CEO, Rob Benadie, disclosed the enterprising is on the verge of joining Orlando Pirates. His potential move brings an end to his stay at the Stellies.
“No, that deal is not done yet, it might be done in the next few hours. But it’s not done yet and we’re hoping that he stays with us,” he told iDiskiTimes’.
The 28-year-old midfielder is considered as one of the top players in the South African top-flight currently, having showcased glimpses of top performance in the previous season.
He currently has 16 goals and 11 assists in 103 games for Stellies since his arrival. The New Zealander is known for his relentless work rate and his chances creation ability.
With his wealth of experience, he is expected to play a huge role for the Soweto giants, who poised to make impact this season.
