Orlando Pirates set sights on PSL rivals as four-man transfer list emerges

Orlando Pirates are already planning for the next Betway Premiership transfer window, with the club targeting reinforcements from domestic rivals as part of their long-term squad strategy.

Work at Mayfair has gathered pace, with several names identified as potential additions to strengthen depth and quality ahead of a busy campaign.

While no deals are complete, movement is expected, with emphasis placed on PSL-proven talent. The shortlist includes Ayanda Jiyane, Siyanda Ndlovu and Ayabulela Maxwele from Golden Arrows, alongside Bohlale Ngwato of Siwelele FC.

The approach reflects a shift towards younger profiles who can adapt quickly to Pirates’ demands while supporting immediate competitiveness.

Orlando Pirates are understood to be in advanced talks for Golden Arrows midfield duo Siyanda Ndlovu and Ayabulela Maxwele, with negotiations progressing ahead of the window.

Both are seen as long-term additions capable of adding balance and control in midfield. Ndlovu, 22, is known for his creativity, sharp passing and ability to operate between the lines.

Maxwele, 25, brings composure and game management, particularly in high-pressure phases. Golden Arrows captain Ayanda Jiyane is also reportedly under consideration.

“Pirates is getting players from Arrows. Jiyane could be amongst those players joining Pirates next season,” said the source. A triple swoop would significantly reshape Pirates’ midfield depth with proven PSL quality.

Meanwhile, Siwelele FC winger Bohlale Ngwato is another name linked with a move. The 20-year-old is admired for his pace, direct dribbling and attacking fearlessness. However, breaking into Orlando Pirates’ attacking unit will be difficult given the existing wide options.

Oswin Appollis, Relebohile Mofokeng and Tshepang Moremi already provide strong competition. Any potential move would therefore be viewed as a depth and future development signing rather than an immediate starter.

However, the FIFA World Cup could alter plans. With players like Mofokeng and Appollis expected to be in contention for Bafana Bafana selection, standout performances could attract overseas interest. That may force Pirates to accelerate recruitment to avoid gaps in key attacking roles.

This window is shaping into a key period for Orlando Pirates as they balance present ambition with future planning. The club is reinforcing key areas while preparing for possible departures.
