Orlando Pirates open new Mall of Africa store as champions gear up for title defence

Orlando Pirates have strengthened their commercial footprint and fan outreach by opening a new official club store at Mall of Africa, just days before beginning their Betway Premiership title defence.

The Soweto club, current Betway Premiership champions, confirmed the launch of the outlet this week, presenting it as a dedicated retail base for “everything Orlando Pirates” and a key step in deepening their relationship with supporters away from the pitch.

New retail hub for Buccaneers supporters

The store offers a full range of official Orlando Pirates merchandise, positioning itself as a one-stop destination for fans wanting to wear the club’s traditional black and white colours.

Supporters visiting Mall of Africa can purchase replica home and alternate kits, training wear and a variety of branded accessories, with the club aiming to provide a central and easily accessible hub for Buccaneers followers.

Orlando Pirates were the first Betway Premiership side to reveal their 2026/27 playing kit when it was launched in May, and that latest strip is now on sale at the new outlet alongside other official products.

Club officials see the Mall of Africa branch as part of a wider push to bring fans closer to the Pirates brand and to expand access to legitimate merchandise for supporters in Gauteng and further afield.

Perfect timing ahead of new season

The opening coincides with a period of optimism for Orlando Pirates, who enter the new campaign as reigning league champions and are focused on retaining their Betway Premiership crown.

With the season about to start, the club believes the timing allows fans to update their matchday wardrobe and show their colours in the newest kit range before competitive action resumes.

The Buccaneers, also known as the Sea Robbers, will start their title defence against top-flight newcomers Milford FC at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, giving supporters an immediate opportunity to wear their fresh purchases in the stands.

By adding a high-profile retail presence at one of South Africa’s busiest shopping centres, Orlando Pirates hope to convert their recent on-field success into stronger off-field engagement, while offering fans another reason to visit Mall of Africa.
