South African outfit Orlando Pirates are considering Kenya head coach Benni McCarthy as replacement for Jose Riveiro.
The Buccaneers are in the hunt of a new coach following the departure of the Spanish tactician. After three-year spell in South Africa, Riveiro decided to part ways with Orlando Pirates as he seeks for a new challenge.
According to reports, the Soweto giants are considering several options for the head coach position, with Benni McCarthy no exception.
Pirates are keen to appoint Benni McCarthy, who is currently working with the Kenya national team. The South African football icon only took charge of the Harambee Stars few months ago, however, it is unknown whether he will favour a move to Pirates when contacted officially for the job.
The Soweto giants could turn to their attention to Rhulani Mokwena and Pitso Mosimane should a move for the South African legend hit a snag.
Pirates endured a trophyless campaign, missing out on both South African Premier League, Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League title.
The Buccaneers lost to Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank final, failing to secure their third consecutive cup title this season. In the Champions League semifinals, Pirates could not eliminate Pyramids and had to bow out.
