Orlando Pirates complete signing of Ronaldo Adams after brother Jayden’s death
Orlando Pirates have completed the signing of Ronaldo Adams from Stellenbosch FC, with the midfielder expected to continue the footballing legacy of his late brother, Jayden Adams.
Jayden died three months ago, shortly after appearing to reach the peak of his career with both Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana. He passed away in an alleged suicide while visiting his family in Cape Town after the World Cup.
Ronaldo has since moved to Johannesburg and is expected to join Orlando Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge team, the club’s reserve side.
A source at the club confirmed that the younger Adams has already begun training with the team.
“Yes, the youngster is here. He is the brother to the late Jayden Adams. He is currently training with our DDC team and looks good at training,” the source said.
Jayden’s death had a profound impact on South African football. His passing was previously discussed by Mamelodi Sundowns coach Cardoso, who spoke publicly about the difficulty of dealing with the loss.
Orlando Pirates are also negotiating with eMalahleni United over the possible signing of Tebatso Letsoalo.
The Witbank-born midfielder has already travelled to Johannesburg and started training with the Pirates DStv Diski Challenge team, which are the defending champions of the Reserve League.
