Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has reflected on his outfit stalemate against Sekhukhune United in the South African Premier League.
The Sea Robbers were cruising going into the PSL Africa Cup of Nations break and expectation was that they will regain the top spot after Mamelodi Sundowns jumped to the top on Monday.
Sundowns beat Orbit College 2-0 to leapfrog Pirates and Pirates facing a Sekhukhune United side which lost in midweek was seen like a walk in the park game for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men.
But it was not to be as the game at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium ended goalless.
“I think it was a really interesting game in terms of intensity and technical quality from both sides. I think the fans saw a good game without any goals of course,” Ouaddou said after the game.
“The first half we maybe deserved to open the scoring and it would’ve helped us to have more space between the lines of Sekhukhune. It’s very difficult to break a compact block.”
The Pirates warned that the PSL is a tough league and it’s not easy as it may look.
“The PSL is a very tough league. Sekhukhune are a very good team and they are one of the best sides in the league. We have to give credit to their goalkeeper as well for having a fantastic game. We can only keep on working and focus on improving the last pass in the final third,” he added.
