Orlando Pirates bring the Bucs Store home as Soweto connection gets major boost

Orlando Pirates are bringing their official club store back to Soweto, with the Buccaneers confirming the reopening of the Orlando Pirates Store at the Orlando Amstel Arena this Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The return of the store to eS’Godini marks a significant moment for the club and its supporters, restoring the official Orlando Pirates retail experience to a venue closely associated with the club’s identity and history.

The reopening is expected to attract supporters from across Soweto, with the club preparing a series of activities and activations to mark the occasion. Gates will open at 10:00, while complimentary tickets will be made available to supporters who register in advance.

Registration is free and will be done through OpenTickets.co.za, with details subject to validation at the entrance.

Pirates reaffirm commitment to Soweto

For Orlando Pirates, the return of the store represents more than simply reopening a merchandise outlet. The club sees the move as another demonstration of its longstanding relationship with Soweto and the supporters who have helped shape its identity.

Marketing Manager Sindisiwe Khumalo-Sibisi highlighted the significance of returning to the iconic venue.

“The return of the Orlando Pirates Store to this iconic venue represents more than the reopening of a retail space.”

She added: “It is our commitment to show that the Soweto township is still thriving and continues to hold a special place in the club.”

The decision also forms part of the club’s broader retail strategy, with Orlando Pirates looking to create spaces that offer supporters more than a conventional shopping experience.

Retail Operations Manager Hunadi Sefoka said the club wants its stores to reflect the character and heritage of Orlando Pirates.

“Our retail vision is to create destinations that feel unmistakably Orlando Pirates.”

Sefoka also pointed to the significance of the Orlando Amstel Arena compared with the club’s previous retail presence at Mall of Africa.

“Orlando Amstel Arena brings it back to where the story lives,” she said.

The reopening therefore reconnects the club’s commercial activities with one of its most important supporter communities, while also providing a platform for a new generation of Buccaneers to engage with the club’s heritage.

Pirates face AmaZulu in title defence

The store reopening comes during an important period for Orlando Pirates, who have already begun their defence of the Betway Premiership title.

The Buccaneers travel to Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday, August 12, to face AmaZulu FC in their second league fixture of the campaign.

Both teams enter the encounter after opening the season with victories.

AmaZulu secured a narrow 1-0 away win over Stellenbosch FC, while Pirates made a stronger start to their title defence with a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Milford FC.

The clash provides the Buccaneers with an early opportunity to build momentum as they seek another successful league campaign.

However, before the focus fully turns to the next stage of the season, Pirates will have another reason to celebrate with their supporters when the official store returns to eS’Godini on Saturday.
