Divock Origi: Eden Hazard Inspired My Move to Lille
Belgian striker Divock Origi has revealed that his decision to join LOSC Lille at the age of 15 was heavily influenced by the success of Eden Hazard at the French club.
In an interview with RTBF, Origi explained how several top European clubs were pursuing him at the time, but Lille stood out:
“I don’t regret my choice. I knew that in France or abroad, they had more resources to develop a player. I had seen Eden Hazard’s progress. And so, for me, the choice was easy to make.”
Hazard, who rose to prominence at Lille before making a high-profile move to Chelsea, served as a clear example for Origi of the developmental path the French club could offer. Now an established Belgian international himself, Origi’s early decision appears to have paid off.
