Hervin Ongenda Joins Bastia on Loan to Gain First-Team Experience
Paris Saint-Germain striker Hervin Ongenda has officially moved to SC Bastia on loan for the upcoming season. The 19-year-old forward has received the green light from PSG’s management to join the Corsican club on a temporary deal without an option to buy.
Speaking to L’Equipe, Ongenda expressed his relief and gratitude over the successful move. “I’m relieved because I got what I wanted. It’s true it took a long time, but now everyone is happy,” he said. “I always believed this story would have a positive ending. I want to thank Olivier Létang and president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi for allowing me to sign in Corsica to gain playing time.”
Ongenda’s loan comes as a welcome development for Bastia, who hope the young striker’s arrival will boost their attacking options. For Ongenda, the move is a crucial step in his development as he seeks regular first-team football—something that has so far eluded him at the star-studded PSG squad.
Whether this loan spell will be enough for Ongenda to challenge for a place in PSG’s plans next season remains uncertain. But for now, gaining valuable experience in Ligue 1 with Bastia represents an important opportunity for the young forward to showcase his potential on a bigger stage.
