Jarell Quansah has officially said goodbye to Liverpool after completing a permanent transfer to Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old defender, who has Ghanaian heritage, spent 17 years at Anfield after joining the club’s academy as a five-year-old.
His emotional farewell came in the form of a heartfelt Instagram post, thanking teammates, coaches, and fans for their role in his journey from youth prospect to first-team regular.
“From the moment I walked through the doors of the Academy at 5 years old, I dreamed of one day wearing the Liverpool shirt at Anfield. 17 years later, I can now say I have lived that dream,” he wrote.
Quansah made his senior debut in 2021 and went on to make 62 appearances for the Reds, winning both the Premier League and the League Cup during his time with the club.
His composed style of play and ability to adapt to the top level made him one of Liverpool’s standout young talents in recent seasons.
Liverpool agreed a deal with Leverkusen worth an initial £30 million, with a further £5 million in potential add-ons based on performance-related clauses.
While the move ends Quansah’s long-standing association with Liverpool, the England youth international made it clear his bond with the club remains strong: “Liverpool will always hold a special place in my heart… once a Red, always a Red.”
