Omari Hutchinson joins AC Milan with permanent transfer option

AC Milan have officially signed Omari Hutchinson on loan from Nottingham Forest, with the agreement including an option to make the move permanent for a further €40m.

The Italian club will pay €4m for the loan, according to reports from Sky Sport Italia and Goal.com, with that fee going directly to Nottingham Forest. The loan agreement runs until 30 June 2027.

Hutchinson completed his medical over the weekend before signing his contract with AC Milan. He will wear the number 20 shirt at San Siro this season.

AC Milan confirmed the transfer in a statement, which said: “The club AC Milan announces today the signing of Omari Hutchinson on loan from Nottingham Forest, with an option to convert the transfer into a permanent deal. The loan agreement runs until 30 June 2027.”

The 40m euro purchase option could become an obligation if AC Milan decide to activate it at the end of the season. Should the Italian club complete the permanent transfer, Hutchinson could then sign a three-year contract running until June 2030.

Hutchinson has been brought in as a replacement for Portugal winger Rafael Leao, who moved to Galatasaray this summer.

The 21-year-old began his development in the academies of Chelsea and Arsenal before spending two spells with Ipswich Town and Suffolk. He joined Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2025.

The deal gives AC Milan the opportunity to assess Hutchinson before committing to a substantial permanent transfer. The initial loan fee is €4m, while the potential overall cost of €44m would consist of the loan payment and the additional €40m required to complete the move.

AC Milan’s announcement confirms that Hutchinson’s stay is formally scheduled to last until June 2027, while the reported purchase terms provide a route for the player to remain at the club on a long-term basis. If the option is exercised, the proposed contract would keep him at San Siro until June 2030.

Hutchinson’s arrival follows the departure of Leao to Galatasaray and marks the latest stage of the English winger’s career after his time with Chelsea, Arsenal, Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest. At AC Milan, he will begin his spell wearing number 20.
