FC Barcelona are intensifying their search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, with the striker position now viewed internally as the club’s top transfer priority ahead of next season.

Coach Hansi Flick has reportedly pushed strongly for the arrival of a world-class forward capable of leading the Catalan attack in the coming years.

“We need a striker who fits in with the team, but also scores goals,” Flick recently explained while discussing Barcelona’s transfer plans.

However, Barcelona’s financial difficulties and the inflated transfer market have complicated negotiations for several elite forwards linked with the club.

After difficult pursuits involving names such as Julián Álvarez, João Pedro, Lautaro Martínez and Victor Osimhen, Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush is increasingly emerging as the most realistic and achievable solution.

Flick already knows Marmoush perfectly

One of the biggest advantages in favour of Omar Marmoush is the strong admiration Flick reportedly has for the player.

The German coach closely followed Marmoush during his impressive spell with Eintracht Frankfurt before the Egyptian completed his move to Manchester City FC.

Because of that Bundesliga experience, Flick already understands the player’s qualities, movement and tactical strengths, making him a natural fit for Barcelona’s system.

Marmoush wants a starring role

Another factor that strengthens the possibility of a transfer is the player’s own ambition.

At Manchester City FC, Marmoush currently plays behind Erling Haaland in the attacking hierarchy.

Like Julián Álvarez before him, the Egyptian forward is believed to be looking for a club where he can become the main attacking reference point rather than a rotational option.

Reports suggest Marmoush is highly enthusiastic about the idea of joining Barcelona and taking on a leading role at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Manchester City may be open to negotiations

Unlike several of Barcelona’s other transfer targets, Marmoush’s situation could make negotiations more realistic.

Although City value the Egyptian international highly, his role as an alternative to Haaland means the English champions may be more willing to discuss a deal compared to clubs refusing outright to sell their key stars.

This gives Barcelona a potential opening in negotiations that does not currently exist with some of their other targets.

Financially more realistic than other options

Barcelona’s financial situation remains one of the club’s biggest obstacles in the transfer market.

Deals involving Julián Álvarez or Lautaro Martínez could exceed 100 million euros, figures considered extremely difficult for the Catalan giants to afford.

Compared to those options, Marmoush is viewed as a significantly more accessible target financially while still offering elite attacking quality and major room for development.

The club reportedly believes his overall value makes much more sense within Barcelona’s current economic strategy.

Bundesliga experience suits Flick’s football philosophy

Another important advantage is Marmoush’s familiarity with German football principles and tactical intensity.

His successful time in the Bundesliga is seen as a major benefit because Flick’s football ideas share similarities with the aggressive, vertical style commonly used in Germany.

Barcelona reportedly believe this background would allow the Egyptian attacker to adapt more quickly to the manager’s demands and integrate smoothly into the team.

With the transfer market becoming increasingly difficult and several major targets appearing financially unreachable, Omar Marmoush is now emerging as one of the strongest candidates to lead Barcelona’s attack in the post-Lewandowski era.
