Omar Kamal joins El Mokawloon on free transfer after Al Ahly exit
Egypt right-back Omar Kamal has joined El Mokawloon from Al Ahly on a free transfer, signing a contract that runs until 30 June 2028.
The 32-year-old returns to the Premier League after leaving the Egyptian champions, having made the move to El Mokawloon on 15 August 2026. Kamal is a right-footed defender who stands 1.86m tall and has spent much of his career in Egypt’s top flight.
Kamal was part of Al Ahly’s squad during a successful period for the club. He won the Egyptian Premier League in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, lifted the Egyptian Super Cup twice and claimed the Egyptian Cup in 2022-23.
He also helped Al Ahly win the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup in the 2024-25 campaign. The defender’s honours include a further Egyptian League Cup victory with Future FC in 2021-22.
His final spell at Al Ahly followed a short loan at Cleopatra FC. Kamal joined Cleopatra in January 2026 before returning to Al Ahly at the end of June. He then completed his switch to El Mokawloon at the start of the 2026-27 season.
Kamal has previously represented Modern Future, Zamalek, El Masry, Alassiouty SC and El Shorta. He joined Al Ahly from Modern Future on a free transfer in January 2024, following an earlier free transfer from Zamalek to Future FC in October 2021.
Across his career in the Egyptian Premier League, Kamal has recorded 223 appearances, 34 goals and 18 assists. He has also played in the CAF Confederation Cup, CAF Champions League, Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup.
At international level, Kamal was part of the Egypt side that finished runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations in the 2021-22 edition.
The move brings an experienced Egyptian defender back to El Mokawloon, with Kamal’s new contract secured through June 2028.
