Omar Kamal joins Arab Contractors on free transfer after leaving Al Ahly
Arab Contractors have announced the signing of former Al Ahly player Omar Kamal Abdel Wahid on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.
The move was confirmed after Kamal left Al Ahly in the final hours of the summer transfer market, which closed at midnight on Saturday, 15 August. Arab Contractors announced the deal on their official social media platforms with the message: “From the Red Castle … to the Mountain Wolves’ den… Omar Kamal in Arab Contractors’ ranks.”
Kamal becomes the latest addition to the Arab Contractors squad after agreeing to join the club without a transfer fee. His departure from Al Ahly followed a decision by the Cairo club’s management to give him his release, allowing him to choose which team he would represent in the coming season.
The 32-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Ceramica Cleopatra after moving temporarily away from Al Ahly. He had joined Al Ahly at the start of 2024 from Modern Sport, having established himself as an experienced player in Egyptian football.
During his time with Al Ahly, Kamal made 51 appearances, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists. His move to Arab Contractors now brings his spell with the club to an end and gives him the opportunity to continue his career elsewhere in the Egyptian football league.
Kamal began his professional career with Ittihad El Shorta before moving to Al Masry. He subsequently joined Al Assiouty, returned to Al Masry and then signed for Zamalek.
His move to Zamalek did not develop as planned because the club was subject to a registration ban, preventing him from completing his intended spell there. Kamal then joined Modern Sport, the club from which he later moved to Al Ahly at the beginning of 2024.
His stay at Al Ahly lasted until the closing stages of the summer transfer window. After the club granted him his release, he was free to determine his next destination, ultimately choosing Arab Contractors.
The club referred to themselves in their announcement as the “Mountain Wolves”, a nickname reflected in their presentation of the signing. The agreement means Kamal will continue his career with the side after spells at Ittihad El Shorta, Al Masry, Al Assiouty, Zamalek, Modern Sport, Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra.
Arab Contractors’ announcement completes the player’s transfer during the summer window, with the move structured as a free transfer following his departure from Al Ahly.
