Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed agrees move to El Mokawloon El Arab after Al Ahly exit

Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed has agreed to join El Mokawloon El Arab on a free transfer after leaving Al Ahly, with the Egyptian transfer window due to close at midnight on Saturday, 15 August.

The 32-year-old is now close to finalising his next move after Al Ahly granted him his release in the closing hours of the summer transfer market. The decision allowed the player to choose the club he would represent during the coming season.

FilGoal.com understands that Kamal has reached an agreement with El Mokawloon El Arab to join the club as a free agent. No Egyptian club will be able to register new signings once the transfer window closes at midnight on Saturday.

Kamal spent the second half of last season on loan from Al Ahly at Ceramica Cleopatra FC. He joined Al Ahly at the beginning of 2024 from Modern Sport, having established himself as a versatile player capable of operating in several positions.

During his time with Al Ahly, Kamal made 51 appearances, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists. His departure brings an end to his spell with the club after just over a year.

Al Ahly’s decision to hand the player his release means he can complete his move without a transfer fee, subject to the final registration procedures before the Egyptian window closes.

Kamal began his professional career with Ittihad El-Shorta. He later moved to Al Masry, then joined Al Assiouty before returning to Al Masry. His next move was to Zamalek, although he was unable to complete his career there because the club was subject to a registration ban.

He subsequently signed for Modern Sport, from where he moved to Al Ahly in early 2024.

Kamal’s agreement with El Mokawloon El Arab gives him the chance to continue his career in the Egyptian Premier League after his loan spell with Ceramica Cleopatra FC and his time at Al Ahly. The move is expected to be completed before the domestic transfer deadline, after which clubs in Egypt will no longer be permitted to make new signings.

The player’s future had remained uncertain until Al Ahly confirmed its decision to release him, leaving Kamal free to determine his next destination. His agreement with El Mokawloon El Arab now places him close to securing a new club for the upcoming season.
