Omar Fayed: Fenerbahce’s Egyptian defender linked with Pogon Szczecin move

Egyptian centre-back Omar Fayed of Fenerbahce is being linked with a move to Polish Ekstraklasa side Pogon Szczecin as the 23-year-old considers his next step ahead of the new season.

Fayed, under contract in Istanbul until 30 June 2027, has yet to feature for Fenerbahce in this season’s UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign and is again the subject of interest from abroad after a series of loan spells. Pogon are understood to be exploring a deal for the right-footed defender as they look to reinforce the heart of their back line.

Fayed, who was born in Monufia and stands at 1.92m, joined Fenerbahce from Egyptian club El Mokawloon in August 2023 for a reported fee of €551,000. Since then, his development has largely taken place away from the Super Lig, with successive loans to Novi Pazar in Serbia, Beerschot VA in Belgium and most recently Portuguese side Arouca in the 2025–26 season.

His current market valuation is €600,000, a figure likely to frame negotiations as Fenerbahce weigh up whether to sanction another move for a player tied down for a further year after this season. Having only just returned from his stint with Arouca at the end of June, Fayed’s immediate prospects in Istanbul appear uncertain.

With no appearance yet this term and his long-term deal still in place, Fenerbahce face a decision over whether to integrate Fayed into their plans or allow Pogon Szczecin to take him, potentially on another temporary arrangement or a permanent transfer before his contract enters its final year.
