Omar El Bakri brings Egyptian wing talent to Sherben after Dekernes departure

Egyptian left winger Omar El Bakri has joined Sherben from Dekernes on a free transfer, giving the club a new attacking option ahead of the 2026-27 season.

El Bakri, 25, completed the move on 12 August 2026 after one season with Dekernes. The Mansoura-born forward operates primarily on the left flank and is right-footed, adding a wide attacking profile to Sherben’s squad.

His latest recorded campaign included one appearance in the Egypt Cup, where he played 56 minutes. That outing represents his most recent listed competitive involvement before switching clubs.

El Bakri joined Dekernes from La Viena FC on 2 August 2025, also on a free transfer. His spell at La Viena followed a move from Valmiera II in August 2023, while he had previously spent time without a club before joining the Latvian side in February 2023.

Earlier in his career, El Bakri was with Al Ahly before returning to Dekernes in September 2021. His move to Sherben therefore marks a return to a club he has previously represented, following his departures for Al Ahly and later clubs.

The Egyptian has now added Sherben to a career that has included football in both Egypt and Latvia. He joins the club as a left winger, with his preferred right foot offering the option of cutting in from the flank.

El Bakri’s free transfer to Sherben was completed on 12 August 2026.
