ANDRÉ AYEW SUSPENDED FOR PSG CLASH, SLAMS REFEREEING AFTER LYON DEFEAT
Olympique de Marseille will be without André Ayew for their much-anticipated Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in two weeks. The Ghanaian international picked up a yellow card in the 74th minute during OM’s 1-0 defeat to Lyon on Sunday night at Stade de Gerland, triggering a suspension.
He won’t be the only absentee—Jérémy Morel will also miss the showdown with PSG after being booked early in the same match.
Ayew didn’t hide his frustration post-match, blaming what he called “bad” refereeing. The son of Ghanaian legend Abedi Pelé criticized referee Lionel Jaffredo, particularly over a controversial non-call involving Florian Thauvin.
“The refereeing was not good at all. This year, we see a lot of stories about the referees. I don’t know what’s going on. On Florian Thauvin, I think there was a penalty. Jérémy Morel was booked for almost his only foul of the match, like me. I’m disgusted with what’s happening… that’s football,” Ayew said.
Despite the frustration, Marseille remain top of Ligue 1, and Ayew is already looking ahead:
“What is important is the next match against Rennes. It is not a setback except mathematically, but it is a defeat that will boost us to go and fight and prepare well for the matches against Rennes and Lens.”
Marseille will be eager to bounce back as they aim to maintain their lead over title contenders.
