LIGUE 1: ROMAO PRAISES BIELSA’S IMPACT ON MARSEILLE’S SUCCESS
Back in action for Matchday 15, Jacques Alaixys Romao reflected on his return and the growing influence of Marcelo Bielsa at Olympique de Marseille. The Togolese international midfielder, who recently missed the matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux, used his press conference to express admiration for Bielsa’s methods.
“He knew how to say the right words to get the best out of the players, he gave them his confidence,” said Romao. “He’s a tactical hard worker, it’s enriching to be able to work with him.”
Romao detailed the intense tactical preparation under the Argentine coach:
“It’s quite long, but it’s become routine, we’ve gotten used to it. Personally, he’ll show you the actions you were able to perform during the match, and we’ll do a debrief afterwards. He tells you how to improve, etc. We work during the week to see how the opposing team will play, and then we decide whether to switch to three or two defenders.”
This strategic depth is showing results on the pitch:
“In any case, his way of playing has convinced us, given our results. So even if we have a bad run, we’ll continue to play the same way.”
With Marseille enjoying strong form under Bielsa’s guidance, Romao’s endorsement further underlines the manager’s growing impact in Ligue 1.
