Vincent Labrune, the president of Olympique de Marseille (OM), expressed his satisfaction with the club’s recruitment strategy in an interview with France Football. Labrune highlighted that OM prioritizes talent over financial resources, suggesting a focus on developing and nurturing promising players.
In his statement, Labrune emphasized the club’s preference for targeting top choices in the French market, securing players with international-level talent and high potential. He cited the example of Giannelli Imbula, noting that OM paid 7 million euros for him (excluding bonuses), while other prominent clubs like Chelsea, Monaco, and Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly willing to pay almost double. Labrune acknowledged that they might not have been able to sign Imbula if the player had not been interested in joining OM.
