Valencia Show Interest in Marseille Defender Nicolas Nkoulou
Olympique de Marseille defender Nicolas Nkoulou is attracting interest from La Liga side Valencia as uncertainty continues over his future.
The 25-year-old Cameroonian international, whose contract with OM is set to expire, is currently in Spain amid growing speculation linking him with a move to the Mestalla. According to local newspaper Deporte Valenciano, Nkoulou is one of several centre-back targets being monitored by the Spanish club.
However, the former Monaco man is not Valencia’s top priority, with Zenit’s Ezequiel Garay, Swansea’s Federico Fernández, and Napoli’s Raúl Albiol also on their shortlist. The Chés are preparing for the possible departure of Argentine defender Nicolás Otamendi, who has been heavily linked with a summer move.
Despite the transfer rumours, Nkoulou has yet to make a firm decision on his future. “It’s hard to say right now. I’m still under contract with OM, and I’m committed day by day,” the defender told reporters. “I’ve come back well from injury and I’m ready to start again, whether that’s with Marseille or elsewhere.”
Nkoulou joined Marseille from AS Monaco in 2011 and has made over 150 appearances for the club.
