Marseille Building Momentum with Convincing Win Over Rennes
After their win at Evian on Matchday 5, Marcelo Bielsa’s Marseille continued their good form by defeating Rennes 3-0 on Matchday 6 of Ligue 1. The victory was marked by strong performances from goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and striker André-Pierre Gignac.
Bielsa praised his key players after the match:
“Gignac created important imbalances. Some victories come down to the influence of the goalkeeper or the number 9. We had a very skillful and decisive striker and a goalkeeper who got us out of tough situations.”
The coach also hinted at possible squad rotations in upcoming matches if players feel fatigued but stressed that he selects his 18 players based on the needs of each specific game.
