Lassana Diarra to Marseille? Club Denies Transfer Rumors
Olympique de Marseille, currently riding high at the top of Ligue 1 with a seven-point lead over Paris Saint-Germain, may still be eyeing reinforcements despite their excellent start to the season. According to L’Équipe, OM have shown strong interest in signing Lassana Diarra, the experienced French midfielder.
Diarra, 29, has been without a club since his departure from Lokomotiv Moscow this past summer and is said to be open to new challenges. His profile, with past experience at clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Arsenal, could potentially add depth and maturity to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
However, Marseille quickly moved to quash the rumors. When contacted by La Provence, club management flatly denied the report, stating:
“It is false.”
Still, speculation persists that this could be a strategic denial, aimed at tempering media pressure or avoiding complications during early negotiations. Diarra is also reportedly being tracked by English and Russian clubs, making the transfer race all the more intriguing.
For now, the midfielder remains without a club—but with the January window approaching, a move may be imminent. Whether that destination is Marseille, however, remains uncertain.
