ANDRÉ AYEW RETURNS TO MARSEILLE FOR TREATMENT, REMAINS OM’S TOP PROVIDER
Injured and forced to miss Ghana’s decisive clash against Togo in the final round of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers, André Ayew has returned to Olympique de Marseille this Tuesday morning for recovery and treatment. The midfielder is suffering from an adductor injury, picked up during the Black Stars’ recent 0-1 loss to Uganda.
Despite this setback, Ayew remains a key figure for OM, particularly in terms of creativity. Before his injury, he stood out as the club’s top assist provider at home in Ligue 1, having delivered:
-
An assist to Florian Thauvin in the 4-0 rout of OGC Nice,
-
And another to Dimitri Payet in the 2-1 win over Saint-Étienne.
When it comes to away games, Ayew also leads the chart, narrowly ahead of teammates Benjamin Mendy and Dimitri Payet, who each tally three assists.
As Marseille continue their Ligue 1 campaign, Ayew’s absence will be felt — both on the ball and in the dressing room. The club hopes to have him back swiftly, fully fit and ready to regain his influential form.
