André Ayew: Departure from Marseille Likely as Contract Talks Stall
It appears increasingly unlikely that André Ayew will continue his adventure with Olympique de Marseille. Despite being one of the club’s key players, the Ghanaian attacking midfielder is nearing the end of his contract and has not reached an agreement to renew.
Speaking candidly at a press conference, Ayew clarified that Champions League qualification will not dictate his future:
“It won’t influence my future. What will bind me to OM are the projects, what we want to do. My future is not tied to the Champions League. I haven’t decided yet. When I’ve made my decision, I’ll say it quickly.”
While discussions are ongoing between Ayew and the Marseille board, the financial aspect poses a serious obstacle. The 25-year-old currently earns around €300,000 per month, a figure OM may be reluctant to match amid budget constraints.
Meanwhile, AS Roma has emerged as a leading contender for his signature. The Italian club is reportedly very interested in acquiring Ayew on a free transfer, and other European clubs are also monitoring his situation closely.
With his contract expiring and a renewal looking increasingly unlikely, Ayew seems poised to embark on a new chapter—potentially ending a 10-year relationship with the club where he rose to prominence.
