Olympique Marseille express firm interest in Morocco defender Souffian El Karouani
Olympique Marseille have expressed firm interest in Morocco international Souffian El Karouani as the winter transfer window approaches.
El Karouani, 25, has been in top form for Dutch outfit FC Utrecht, racking up three goals and delivering 15 assists in 27 appearances across competitions this season.
He is currently the defender with most goal contributions in Europe this season. Despite his impressive run of form, the 25-year-old was snubbed with a call up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
But his outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed, with Marseille, who are looking to bolster their defensive options setting sights on the Moroccan.
Meanwhile, the French giants faces a stern competition from Portuguese powerhouses, FC Porto and Benfica, who are also interested in the defender.
El Karouani, whose contract expires at the end of the season intends to seek for a new challenge, giving interested clubs the edge to make a move.
Utrecht could sanction a move for the Morocco international to avoid losing him on a free at the end of the season.
