Lyon Still Pursuing Nicolas N’Koulou Despite Marseille’s Refusal
Despite Olympique de Marseille’s unwillingness to part with Nicolas N’Koulou, Olympique Lyonnais remain hopeful of securing the Cameroonian defender’s services. In an interview with Le Progrès, Bernard Lacombe, special advisor to OL president Jean-Michel Aulas, reaffirmed the club’s interest.
“Are we still thinking about recruiting N’Koulou? Yes, we made an offer to Marseille. He really interests us, and I think he wants to come. (…) Afterwards, we’ll have to see with Marcelo Bielsa. I imagine he has his opinion to give, of course — we put ourselves in his shoes,” Lacombe stated.
However, Lyon now faces growing competition from Newcastle United, which could complicate the deal further. With time passing and other clubs entering the race, OL’s chances of landing N’Koulou appear to be diminishing.
