Olympique Club de Safi resolve financial dispute with Senegal forward Moussa Koné

Olympique Club de Safi have successfully resolved the financial dispute with Senegalese forward Moussa Koné, settling all outstanding dues with the player.

As per reports, the Moroccan outfit finalized payment process on Thursday by transferring all pending dues directly into the player’s bank account, bringing an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

The total amount reportedly exceeded 35 million centimes and included Koné’s unpaid signing bonus as well as two months of outstanding salaries.

The resolution comes after rising tensions between both parties in recent days, with the Senegalese attacker previously sending an official warning letter to the club demanding immediate payment of his dues. In the correspondence, Koné reportedly warned that he could move to terminate his contract unilaterally and take the matter to the relevant football authorities if the issue remained unresolved beyond the stipulated deadline.

The deadline initially expired without an agreement being reached, raising fears that Olympique Safi could lose one of their important foreign players ahead of the new season while also risking potential disciplinary or legal consequences.

However, the club’s management eventually intervened decisively on Thursday to settle the financial obligations and reassure the player of their commitment to maintaining stability within the squad.

Sources close to the situation revealed that the payment was also aimed at convincing Koné to continue his journey with the club and avoid escalating the matter through official channels.

Koné has become an important figure for Olympique Safi since his arrival, contributing significantly to the team throughout the campaign with his consistency, work rate and attacking presence.

During the recently concluded season, the Senegalese striker featured in 29 matches across competitions, establishing himself as one of the regular names in the squad.

The successful resolution of the dispute is expected to provide relief for both the player and the club as Olympique Safi continue preparations for next season with greater stability behind the scenes.
