Olympiakos turn to Adem Zorgane after Yacine Titraoui rejects move

Olympiakos have identified Algeria international Adem Zorgane as a possible alternative after missing out on compatriot Yacine Titraoui, who is expected to join RC Lens.

The Greek club had reached an agreement with Charleroi for Titraoui’s transfer, reportedly worth €8m excluding bonuses, after an initial offer of €7m was rejected. However, the move has stalled because the Algeria international turned down Olympiakos’ proposal.

Despite being offered a salary more than 10 times higher than his current earnings in southern Belgium, Titraoui is understood to favour a move to RC Lens. Several sources, including journalist Sacha Tavolieri, report that the player is set to join the French club shortly.

Olympiakos have now turned their attention to another Algeria international in the shape of Zorgane, according to journalist George Tsanakas.

The 26-year-old midfielder moved to Brussels from Charleroi only last summer but quickly established himself as a key member of the Union Saint-Gilloise squad. He has won 24 caps for Algeria and scored once for the national team.

Zorgane played a prominent role for Union Saint-Gilloise last season, appearing in 51 matches and starting 47 of them. He scored four goals and provided nine assists, figures that made him the fourth most-used player in the club’s squad.

His importance was underlined again on Friday when he played the full match in the Belgian Super Cup. Union Saint-Gilloise began the 2026-27 season with victory over Club Brugge in that match.

Zorgane remains under contract until 2029. Transfermarkt values the midfielder at €12m, meaning any approach from Olympiakos would concern a player whose market valuation is higher than the fee agreed for Titraoui.

Olympiakos, who are involved in the Champions League qualifying play-offs, had initially focused their efforts on Titraoui. Their agreement with Charleroi appeared to have placed them close to completing the deal, but the player’s preference for RC Lens has forced them to consider another option.

That has led them to Zorgane, who is already familiar with Belgian football after his recent move from Charleroi to Brussels. His performances last season, along with his international experience and long-term contract, make him a significant target for the Greek club.

No agreement between Olympiakos and Zorgane has been reported, but the midfielder’s name has emerged as the club searches for a replacement target after Titraoui chose not to accept their offer.
