Oluwasegun Aremu: Nigerian defender joins Kano Pillars from ASSC

Nigerian defender Oluwasegun Aremu has joined Kano Pillars from ASSC, completing a move that keeps the homegrown talent in the Nigeria Premier Football League. The switch to one of the country’s most established clubs gives Aremu a new platform after emerging as a title winner earlier in his career.

Aremu, whose main position is in defence, links up with Pillars following a spell with ASSC that began in the 2025-26 season. His transfer continues a steady rise through Nigerian club football and strengthens Kano Pillars’ options at the back as they prepare for the new campaign.

Before moving to ASSC, Aremu played for Remo Stars, where he enjoyed the standout achievement of his career so far. He was part of the Remo Stars side that became Nigerian champions in the 2024-25 season, a success that underlined his credentials in domestic competition and helped put him on the radar of other NPFL clubs.

Kano Pillars have now secured a defender with experience of competing at the top end of the Nigerian game and with a league title already on his record. The move sees Aremu remain in Nigerian football while stepping into a new environment with a club that regularly operates at the highest level of the NPFL.

Aremu’s transfer from ASSC to Kano Pillars is registered for the 2026-27 season, confirming his status as the latest defensive recruit for the four-time Nigerian champions.
