Olympique Lyonnais (OL) continues to expand its international footprint with the announcement of a three-season partnership with FUS Rabat Academy in Morocco. The collaboration, unveiled on Monday, aims to foster exchanges between the technical staff of both clubs, promote the sharing of expertise, and support the development of young talent at the Moroccan academy, which was established in 2016. The agreement reflects OL’s commitment to nurturing youth players while strengthening global football ties.
Morocco becomes the seventh country to join OL’s international network, following previous partnerships in Lebanon, Vietnam, South Korea, Senegal, China, and Brazil. Through this collaboration, OL seeks to leverage its experience in player development to assist FUS Rabat in refining training programs, improving coaching methods, and identifying promising young talents who could one day make an impact at higher levels of professional football.
Jean-Michel Aulas, President of Olympique Lyonnais, expressed his enthusiasm for the agreement, emphasizing the historical significance of FUS Rabat and its shared values with OL. “We are very pleased to finalize this partnership today with FUS Rabat, which has been recognized for the quality and seriousness of its project for over 10 years. It is a historic club that shares strong values with Olympique Lyonnais and a common commitment to the development of young talent. This new step in our international development will allow us to strengthen our ties with Morocco, which today has nearly 300,000 OL supporters,” he said.
For FUS Rabat, the partnership represents a major milestone and the club’s first international collaboration. Hamza El Hajoui, president of the Moroccan club’s football section, highlighted the strategic alignment between the two organizations. “The partnership signed today with Olympique Lyonnais is FUS’s first international partnership: this is far from a coincidence. We share with OL the same approach, the same values, and the same convictions regarding youth development. This partnership will give new impetus to our club, allow us to consolidate a strategy started ten years ago, and reap the rewards in the near future,” he explained.
The agreement between OL and FUS Rabat is expected to involve structured programs for technical collaboration, coaching exchanges, and opportunities for talented young players to gain exposure to advanced training methodologies. By combining OL’s experience in youth development with FUS Rabat’s local knowledge and scouting networks, both clubs aim to create a sustainable system for nurturing football talent while fostering stronger footballing ties between France and Morocco.
This strategic partnership also underscores OL’s broader international ambitions, enhancing its global brand while creating tangible pathways for young players to develop in competitive environments. With nearly 300,000 supporters in Morocco, the collaboration strengthens fan engagement in the region, bridging communities and promoting shared footballing values.
As the partnership gets underway, both Olympique Lyonnais and FUS Rabat are poised to benefit from mutual learning, resource sharing, and the development of the next generation of footballers, ensuring long-term success on and off the field.
