Injury Blow for Lyon as Nabil Fékir Faces Weeks on Sidelines
Olympique Lyonnais will be without Nabil Fékir for several weeks after the midfielder suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash with Stade Rennais.
The 21-year-old was forced off in the 26th minute after a collision with Rennes defender Cheick M’Bengue. Fékir, who had been instrumental in Lyon’s promising start to the match—eventually won 2-0—was replaced by veteran Steed Malbranque.
Speaking after the match, Lyon manager Hubert Fournier confirmed the extent of the injury: “Fékir’s shoulder was put back in place in the dressing room. He will be unavailable for several weeks.”
The setback adds to Lyon’s growing injury list as the club seeks to maintain momentum in the early stages of the season.
