The manager of OGC Nice, Franck Haise has hinted that it is unlikely the club will sign Youssoufa Moukoko permanently at the end of his loan spell.
The youngster is on loan at the French Ligue 1 club from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Although he was signed with a lot of expectations, things have not turned out very well. Youssoufa Moukoko has only scored two goals after making 22 appearances in all competitions for OGC Nice.
Speaking in an interview, Nice manager Franck Haise revealed that although Youssoufa Moukoko has only started 11 matches this season, his attitude has been remarkable.
“He is training well but it isn’t easy. We have six, seven, eight players up front. If they can’t express themselves, score and assist… I have choices to make and can’t keep throwing players back in. But once again, I am praising the mindset that he has every day,” the OGC Nice manager told Get French Football News.
The manager further cast doubt over the ability of OGC Nice to permanently sign Youssoufa Moukoko.
“We know his situation too. He is a player that is on loan with an option to loan that in all likelihood, the club won’t be able to trigger. But his mindset is remarkable.”
Checks have revealed that the loan deal between Dortmund and OGC Nice has a buy option worth around €18 million.
With the French outfit unable to sign Youssoufa Moukoko, he will most likely return to Dortmund at the end of the season.
