OGC Nice are set to complete the signing of Ghanaian central defender Kojo Peprah Oppong following a finalized agreement with Swedish side IFK Norrköping, confirmed on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old, who still has 18 months remaining on his contract in Sweden, is expected to join the French Ligue 1 outfit in the coming days.

While financial details of the transfer have not been made public, sources close to the negotiations suggest that the deal is in its final stages, with only formalities left before an official announcement is made.

Oppong’s move comes after weeks of speculation surrounding his future, with Nice reportedly tracking the highly rated defender for some time. According to reports from Africasoccer, the two clubs reached consensus on the terms of the transfer earlier this week, effectively paving the way for the player’s arrival at the Allianz Riviera.

The transfer represents a significant step in Oppong’s career as he prepares to make the leap from Sweden’s top division to one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.

Known for his composure on the ball and strong physical presence, the Ghanaian has been one of Norrköping’s standout performers this season, earning praise for his mature defensive displays despite his young age.

Nice’s decision to invest in Oppong aligns with their ongoing strategy of reinforcing the squad with promising young talent.

The club has been active in the transfer market this summer, seeking to build a dynamic, youth-oriented team capable of competing domestically and in European competitions.

The imminent arrival of Oppong adds depth to Nice’s central defence, an area the coaching staff had reportedly targeted for reinforcement.

With the club aiming to climb higher in the Ligue 1 standings, the addition of a player with Oppong’s potential is seen as both a short-term boost and a long-term investment.

At just 21, Oppong has already gained valuable first-team experience in Sweden’s Allsvenskan, featuring regularly for Norrköping since breaking into the senior squad.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, drawing interest from clubs across Europe, but it is Nice who have moved decisively to secure his signature.

For Oppong, the move to France marks a new chapter and a major opportunity to showcase his abilities on a bigger stage.

His transition will be closely watched by both Ghanaian football fans and European scouts, as he joins a growing number of African talents making an impact in top-tier European football.

OGC Nice have yet to officially confirm the transfer, but all indications suggest that an announcement is imminent. Medical tests and contract signings are expected to take place shortly, barring any unforeseen complications.

As the club prepares for the new season, the inclusion of Kojo Peprah Oppong represents not only a reinforcement of their defensive line but also a clear statement of intent from the Nice hierarchy — one that emphasizes youth, promise, and long-term vision.
