Elye Wahi celebrating for OGC Nice

OGC Nice are exploring the possibility of keeping striker Elye Wahi beyond his current loan spell after the forward made a strong impact during the closing stages of the Ligue 1 season.

Wahi joined Nice on loan during the winter transfer window and has quickly become an important figure in a side involved in a tight battle at the lower end of the table.

His arrival has helped inject energy into an attack that had been struggling for consistency.

The striker has scored four goals in 11 appearances so far, offering an improved cutting edge in front of goal.

Beyond his statistics, his movement, intensity and willingness to press have added a different dimension to Nice’s forward play.

His performances have not gone unnoticed within the club, with internal discussions already taking place about the possibility of extending his stay.

Staff are understood to value both his contribution on the pitch and how quickly he has adapted to the squad.

However, any permanent move is not straightforward. Wahi is currently on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, and there is no option included in the deal to make the transfer automatic.

That means Nice would need to open negotiations with the Bundesliga club if they wish to secure his services beyond the current arrangement.

Any such talks are expected to depend heavily on the club’s final league position.

Survival in Ligue 1 is seen as a key factor before any transfer discussions can progress.

Maintaining top-flight status would not only shape recruitment plans but also determine whether a deal for Wahi is financially and competitively realistic.

For now, the forward remains focused on helping Nice secure their place in the division, while the club continues to assess how best to build on his promising loan spell.
