OGC Nice and Toulouse battle to sign Ivorian forward David Fofana from Chelsea
Two French Ligue 1 clubs are interested in signing Ivorian forward David Fofana from Chelsea.
Sources have reported that OGC Nice and Toulouse FC are both keen on signing the youngster this summer to augment their squad.
According to L’Équipe, Chelsea are open to parting ways with Fofana but are seeking a one-off payment to finalise the deal.
Discussions are ongoing, with both French clubs exploring ways to reach a financial agreement that suits all parties.
In the early stages of negotiations, Nice tabled a proposal to sign the player on loan with an option to buy, while also covering part of his wages.
Toulouse, on the other hand, have expressed a willingness to pay between €4 million and €5 million for the Ivorian, but are currently facing challenges in matching the striker’s salary demands.
Earlier this year, Chelsea cut short Fofana’s loan spell at Turkish side Göztepe, where he had moved in September.
That deal included a £20 million purchase option, but the arrangement was terminated in February before it could be activated.
