Official: Tunisian tactician Chokri Khatoui appointed head coach of Olympique Safi

Chokri Khatoui has officially been unveiled as the new head coach of Olympique Safi after arriving in the city of Safi on Tuesday evening to complete the formalities of his appointment.

The Tunisian tactician has signed a contract that will run until the end of the current season, with an option in place for a further year should both parties agree to extend the partnership.

The club’s board confirmed the development in an official statement, putting an end to speculation surrounding the coaching position.

The statement read that the board of directors of Olympique Safi football club informs the public of the appointment of Mr. Chokri Khatoui as coach of the first team until the end of the season with the option to renew.

Born on February 12, 1968, Khatoui brings with him extensive experience from across North Africa and the Gulf region. Over the course of his managerial career, he has taken charge of Stade Tunisien, Al-Nasr SC Benghazi, Al-Ahli Benghazi, Al-Ahli Saudi, Najran SC, and the Tunisia national under-23 football team.

Khatoui is no stranger to Olympique Safi. During his time at Stade Tunisien, he previously faced the Moroccan side in the CAF Cup. On that occasion, his team was knocked out of the continental competition by Olympique Safi, who were then guided by assistant coach Simo Tawfik.

With his appointment now confirmed, attention will turn to how quickly Khatoui can make his mark and steer Olympique Safi through the remainder of the campaign.
