Kader Mangane Makes Ligue 1 Return with GFC Ajaccio
Senegalese defender Kader Mangane has completed a return to Ligue 1, signing a one-year contract with newly promoted side GFC Ajaccio. The 32-year-old, a free agent after leaving his previous club, was present during the summer training camp and has now officially joined the Corsican outfit. Mangane will wear the number 15 shirt for his new team.
The experienced centre-back is no stranger to France’s top tier, having previously played for Stade Rennais and RC Lens. With 26 international caps for Senegal, Mangane brings a wealth of experience to Ajaccio’s defense. His last stint in Ligue 1 saw him establish himself as a key player at Rennes, where he gained recognition for his solid performances.
After departing Rennes, Mangane’s career took him to several international destinations, including stints at Sunderland in the Premier League, and playing in both Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Despite these varied adventures, Mangane’s return to Ligue 1 represents a significant chapter in his career, with Ajaccio looking to leverage his experience as they seek to solidify their position in France’s top flight.
GFC Ajaccio, who earned promotion to Ligue 1 this season, will be hoping that Mangane’s leadership and defensive abilities will provide a stabilising presence for the team as they prepare for the challenges of France’s elite division.
