Paris Saint-Germain Secures Serge Aurier as Second Signing
Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the signing of right-back Serge Aurier on Wednesday, shortly after their 4-2 friendly win over Nice. The 21-year-old, formerly of Toulouse, joins PSG on a one-season loan with an automatic purchase option worth around €10 million.
Aurier, a product of Lens’ youth academy, impressed last season with Toulouse, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists—the most productive defender in Europe. He was also named in Ligue 1’s Team of the Year and had a strong showing at the recent World Cup, confirming his rising reputation.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Aurier said:
“Playing for Paris Saint-Germain with exceptional players is a childhood dream. I will give my all to help the team reach the top.”
Coach Laurent Blanc praised the new signing, emphasizing Aurier’s youth and potential for growth:
“We are very happy to have Serge Aurier among us. He is a young player with significant room for improvement.”
At PSG, Aurier will compete for the right-back position with Gregory van der Wiel, following Christophe Jallet’s departure to Lyon.
