Adel Taarabt Signs Five-Year Deal with Benfica After Leaving QPR
Moroccan attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt has officially joined Portuguese giants Benfica Lisbon, ending his spell with Queens Park Rangers (QPR). The club confirmed the signing on their official Twitter and Facebook accounts, announcing that the former Tottenham and AC Milan player has signed a five-year contract.
Benfica are also awaiting the arrival of Mehdi Carcela from Standard Liège, signaling an ambitious recruitment drive.
Taarabt’s release clause has been set at €45 million, and reports suggest he will earn around €1.5 million annually. After a challenging 2014/2015 season at QPR, where he made only seven Premier League appearances, the Moroccan international is eager to revive his career in Portugal.
The move marks a fresh start for Taarabt, who previously impressed at clubs such as Lens and is looking to rediscover his best form with Benfica.
