Obafemi Martins urges Osimhen to choose Barcelona over Arsenal or Chelsea

Super Eagles legend Obafemi Martins has advised Victor Osimhen to prioritise a move to Barcelona over potential transfers to Premier League giants Arsenal or Chelsea.

Osimhen’s future remains a major talking point as several top European clubs continue to monitor the Nigerian striker following his impressive spell with Galatasaray.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona have all been linked with the 27-year-old forward, although Galatasaray remain reluctant to part ways with their star striker.

Speaking on the Obi One Podcast alongside former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel, Martins was asked whether Osimhen would be well suited to the Premier League.

The former Inter Milan striker believes the Nigerian would be better off moving to Spain, insisting that Barcelona would provide a more suitable environment for him to continue developing and scoring goals.

“Chelsea is not doing very well at the moment. He will struggle at Arsenal. Don’t make him come there. Let him go to Barcelona to play,” Martins said.

“He needs to score more goals; he does not need to struggle a lot.”

Martins’ comments reflect his belief that Osimhen should prioritise a club where he can maximise his goalscoring ability rather than joining a Premier League side where he could face greater difficulties adapting to the demands of English football.

Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers in recent seasons, combining pace, physical strength and an impressive instinct inside the penalty area.

His performances for Galatasaray have only increased his appeal, with the Turkish giants eager to retain a player who has become a key figure in their attack.

Barcelona have previously been linked with Osimhen as the Catalan giants looked for a long-term attacking option. However, their reported signing of Gabriel Jesus appears to have complicated the possibility of the Nigerian moving to Camp Nou.

That development could leave Arsenal and Chelsea as potential destinations if Osimhen eventually decides to return to one of Europe’s major leagues.

For Martins, however, the choice is clear: Barcelona would be the ideal destination for the Nigerian international, particularly if the priority is to continue scoring goals and competing at the highest level.

With Osimhen’s future still unresolved, the coming days could determine whether he remains in Turkey or makes another major move in his career.
