Jean-Pierre N’Same has steadily made a name for himself at Angers SCO. The 19-year-old Cameroonian striker, nurtured within the club, is experiencing his inaugural professional season with Angers. Known for his humility, the young talent attributes his success to hard work, allowing him to swiftly ascend through the ranks.
“Nothing is easy. When I joined the group during the preseason, I learned a new way of working, and I adapted immediately because I am a hardworking boy,” affirms the Douala native.
Establishing himself as a key player in the squad, N’Same played his first professional match against Arles-Avignon in August. Despite the team’s loss, the joy on N’Same’s face reflected his elation at starting for the first team: “I was very happy because I didn’t expect it at all. The coach trusted me, and it went really well. To be a starter for the first time in Ligue 2 with my training club is a big deal. Unfortunately, for my first game, we didn’t manage to win in Arles-Avignon (2-0 defeat, 4th day), but it remains an unforgettable memory.”
Unfazed and showing intelligence on the field, the Cameroonian striker invigorates Angers’ attack, displaying composure even in solitary situations. Despite his undeniable talent, N’Same remains focused on gaining experience in Ligue 2 with Angers before contemplating a move to Ligue 1.
“I’m young; I still have a lot to learn. This year I am discovering Ligue 2, with great pleasure, with my club. I learn every day. Ligue 1, we will see in due time. I must first get used to L2, continue to learn, progress, and show what I can do. L1 is a level above. If I am ever ready for Ligue 1, I will have to work again and again to be prepared,” states N’Same.
Admitting to drawing inspiration from the qualities of Ivorian striker Didier Drogba, N’Same is determined to continue his learning journey and make a significant impact in the world of football.
